wedding noes and yeses

Part of the essential steps or guidelines in creating a dream wedding out of a thin budget (luckily, not out of thin air) is knowing what you want. You’ve dreamed of this your whole life so essentially you should know what is in that dream wedding that makes it THE dream wedding.

But for me, since I’ve never really envisioned my wedding until D proposed to me (honestly!), I only have a list of yeses–the things I want included in my wedding– and noes–obviously, those that I don’t want. Here, I’m sharing it with you:

1. No to inviting everyone we knew. Yes to inviting only the people who have actually witnessed our relationship.

2. No to stiff ball gowns. Yes to simple, streamlined dresses.

3. No to bridesmaid’s gown that will never be worn again. Yes to (inspired by) spring dresses.

4. No to flower girls looking like little brides. Yes to children dressing up as children.

5. No to people lining up, posing and smiling for the camera. Yes to artistic, candid shots.

6. No to tarpaulin signs. Yes to wooden wedding signs.

7. No to wedding program. Yes to going around and talking to each and every single guest.

8. No to elaborate pageantry. Yes to great food.

9. No to tall vases for the flower centerpieces. Yes to short vases and natural floral arrangements.

10. No to archs, pillars or gazebo for the couple’s table. Yes to this.

11. No to excessive table setup. Yes to clean and elegant designs.

12. No to spotlight and other electrical mood lighting. Yes to candles (or LED tea lights).

13. No to flowers made of plastic. Yes to real flowers and beautifully crafted, handmade flowers.

14. No to formal, heavily decorated wedding. Yes to light, casual and relaxed ambiance.

15. No to ‘how much did you spend?’. Yes to ‘how did you do it?’.
