How does it feel like to wear a dress you don’t love on your wedding day?

crying bride

One thing I know, the feeling is nowhere near marrying a guy you don’t love on your wedding day.

Humor me, I’m just trying to be funny because I will be wearing such a gown on my wedding day. A gown that I do not love.

I remember during my shopping heyday, when I bought items because they spoke to me, shouted at me. Buy me! Buy me!. I know somebody else can identify with this shopping intuition–those moments when we knew we need to buy this one. Because it’s meant to be.

Ironically, that didn’t happen when I bought my wedding gown. That’s how it’s supposed to be, right? You look at a gown. You try it on. You feel this is IT. Well, I did the same: looked at it, tried it on, but bought it without feeling ‘This is IT‘.

Why?

I explained here. Budget did all the deciding for me. The fact that it’s just a ‘one-day’ dress, so I’m not inclined to spend on it.

I called it ‘budget and beautiful‘. And it is. However, it’s not IT. A wedding gown can be beautiful, and even expensive. Designer’s. But these don’t make it IT. Unless you feel that it is. Unless it speaks to you.

Otherwise, it’s not IT.

So, to answer my own question: How does it feel like to walk down the aisle donning a gown you don’t love?

I am walking down the aisle with the man that I love. And he feels the same way, too.  That’s all that matters. That’s IT.

Honestly, I feel better already.

UPDATE: I took my wedding gown back to the store to have it resized. Maybe once it fits me to a tee. . . it can be. . . We’ll see.
