If you could remember my previous DIY wedding cord post, I said that there are generally two ways to make a beaded wedding cord. One is to string the beads which I already discussed in that post. The other one is by making use of wire or eye pins and linking them like a chain using a simple looping technique. This is a tad bit more difficult than the first instruction but I’m sure once you get the hang of it, this can be a very easy DIY wedding project to do.

Eye Pins, Beads and a Simple Loop
To start off, you’re going to need:
1. Beads, of course. This will depend on your preference. You can go for the traditional round, shiny, crystal beads. Or you can be a non-conformist and use something different. Because I am fond of incorporating different colors, shapes, sizes and textures in my DIYs, I decided to make a slightly non-traditional-looking DIY wedding cord. The materials that I used were tube and flat diamond acrylic beads in aqua blue, wooden seed beads in copper and a brass jumpring.

2. Eye pins (in brass to match the jumprings).
3. 2 pairs of pliers (if possible, have at least one pair of round-nosed pliers because they make better eye pins) and 1 wire cutter.

4. Additional component for the center of the cord.
Jewelry-making Basics: Simple Loop Technique
Because we’ll be dealing with wires, it is important that you know one of the basics of making jewelries, that is the simple looping technique. I wanted to photograph myself to give you a clear picture of how to do it, but holding the camera while twisting a wire is difficult so let’s just find a video on YouTube that can provide better illustrations:
Procedure:
Now that you’ve seen how to make an eye pin, it’s just a matter of connecting the beads together.
This is the sequence that I wanted to make. You’ll notice that they have open-ended eye pins so to connect them, you’ll have to loop each one end and attach it to the next eye pin in the line.

Continue this process of linking the beads until you reach the desired length for one person. Then make another strand in equal length. You will now have 2 beaded chains:

Most people like centerpieces so I created something that will act like one to connect the two strands together. Here’s how I plan to attach them:

And how I wanted it to look like:

And we’re done!

You can add other components like your initials or anything that symbolizes you and your spouse-to-be if you fancy personalization. Or you can use it as it is.
Hope you enjoy this another DIY wedding cord tutorial.
