There are so many beautiful homes in Airbnb that one can’t help but feel envious (as in “I wish I lived there”) or aspirational ( as in “I will live in a house like that someday”). Although the title of this post leans toward being envious, I am sharing my wishlist here to also motivate myself to do the best I can to be able to purchase or build my dream house someday.

In my previous post, I listed the Airbnb beach houses that I can envision my family living in. Here, I will share a mix of different styles – farmhouse, lakehouse, cottage and view houses – that has ensnared my heart.

Like in the first batch, I’m looking at the design, materials and amenities but some of them are really special that I’m willing to ignore what the house lacks, as far as my criteria are concern, and appreciate what the properties can offer in return.

So let’s have a look at these Airbnb dream houses, shall we?

Airbnb Houses With a View

This rustic farmhouse-style home, set on a high ground, surrounded by nature and offers spectacular views of the mountains, forest and the city is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It’s got glass wall panels, a warm, homey feel and a promise of a truly relaxing stay. But I’m just a little wary about the traditional materials that were used all over the house. But those materials are what give this house its unique charm.

A modern bahay-kubo (traditional Filipino farmhouse) nestled on a slope of an active volcano.  That sounds a little dangerous (although the owner said “that it is a thousand more times dangerous to live in any urbanized city, or to ride in a moving car than to live in the midst of wild plants, trees and birds chirping nearby with an overlooking view of the ocean”) but definitely exciting. The view is phenomenal as expected and the house is all about living in tranquility and harmony with nature. But again, being me, I wonder how hard it is to maintain the house given the materials used and more importantly, what will happen to the house when the volcano erupts? But it is a lovely place.

Owning a house in an area where the prices of properties with a direct view of the Taal volcano are awfully steep (as steep as the slope it is built on) is like owning an expensive vintage item.  It’s a valuable gem, regardless of the size and age of the property. This charming cabin is a great example. Although it’s already showing signs of aging and the natural wear and tear of materials, the unique appeal of a simple life in a rustic cottage with an amazing view of that iconic volcano is simply irresistible.

Another rustic house tucked away in a thick woodland and blessed with the sweeping views of the green forest and blue ocean. This is a typical bahay sa probinsya (house in the province/country) but bigger. I love the layout, the glass walls, the surroundings and the vibe but again, I have reservations regarding the native materials used throughout the house and how to maintain them. But what draws me to this is the tree house – because I’ve always wanted to have a tree house in the forest.

Airbnb Farmhouses

I know I’m that type of person who worries about maintenance and materials and all that, but this farmhouse is just perfect. It has everything I want and everything I need. The more I look at the pictures, the more I long for it. I’m ready to move in.

Another farmhouse. This one is slightly less rustic, but just as homey and inviting. It has all the elements of what I want in house – floor-to-ceiling glass wall panels, spacious indoor and outdoor areas, open layout, wonderful backyard and garden.

This is property has the best of both worlds – the relaxing ambiance of a garden-forest setting and the comfort and luxury of a modern farmhouse. Every nook and cranny is perfection. There’s nothing more I could ask for.

Airbnb Cottage Houses

A cute, dainty cottage in the midst of verdant trees, herb garden and flowering plants. The interior may look small but definitely very cozy and very Asian. I love the enclosed veranda in the photo above and it’s easy to imagine how often I’ll sit there – musing, unwinding and taking in all the beauty that surrounds me.

Blue is not my favorite color, but I wouldn’t mind living in this English cottage-style house. Although the furniture are more ornate than what I like and I’d probably want to replace some of the paint colors, of course without deviating from the English cottage theme, but I will never get tired of the view from the pocket garden.

Airbnb Lake Houses

I love me a lake house as it has a more calming vibe than say a beach house. And gorgeous rustic villa – actually, 2 villas – by the lake is exactly what I need. Everything is almost all wood, except for the bathrooms, most walls are made of folding glass panels so you get the sense that there’s no boundary between indoor and outdoors areas, and there’s a lovely pool at the back. The house looks comfy and supports a laid-back, stress-free lifestyle. The only downside is there is no commercial electricity. The entire property runs on solar power, which can be a good thing – because there it’s one less monthly utility bills to pay – but it can a bad thing if you rely on electrical power to work.

This one is a special property because it’s your own mini island in a lake. The house, if it were in a different place, is just your average house – an upgraded bahay kubo. But because it’s on a tiny island in the middle of a lake, it becomes an interesting place to live in.

Airbnb Log Cabin

When I think of log cabins, I think of vacation houses somewhere in the highlands, possibly off the grid. But this modern log cabin is in a perfect location and furnished with present-day conveniences that guarantees a comfortable day-to-day living.

Airbnb House Inside an Exclusive Community

{ Airbnb Link }

My first Airbnb experience was in a condo inside an exclusive resort-like community. The amenities were great – a clubhouse with pool area, gym, play area for the kids, etc; a jogging and biking path circling a man-made lake; and a beach. Inside the community, everyday can feel like a vacation. But since it’s a condo – it’s small, cramped and it’s like you’re living in a hotel room. But if it were a house, it would a different matter. And that’s exactly what this property is – a nice-looking decent-sized above-average bungalow inside a gated community offering lots of recreational activities that a family like ours will truly enjoy.

I know there are a lot more beautiful homes listed on Airbnb and as I keep browsing, I will continue to add them to my list. Hopefully one day, I will be able to stay in them. Feel free to share your Airbnb favorites in the comments.
